County Squad

Team Selection

The Worcestershire County Squad shoots several matches against other Counties during the outdoor season, culminating in the Inter-Counties Match at Lilleshall in October.

Each match will require a different team constitution, depending on the resources available to the two Counties involved. In the lead-up to an event the two Team Managers will negotiate the numbers of different types of archers who will make up the final team.

The Managers will then invite a Squad that will give them the best chance of putting in a winning performance. Having shot the match, the Team Manager will select the archers with the best scores to form the actual team.

Archers who make the actual team (at least once in a season) are awarded a “County Bar”, which is presented at the County AGM in December. Archers who shot as Squad members, but who did not make the team, will have their contribution recognised with a certificate.

Squad Training

The CCO, in conjunction with the Team Manager, arranges a program of Squad training, and eligible archers will be kept informed. Also keep an eye on the Coaching page of this site for relevant events.

Eligibility

The County Trials, held every April, form a basis for initial selection each year.  Archers will be invited to the Trials if they meet the minimum requirements listed below.  These details are submitted at the start of the year by each club's Record Officer.

The Team Manager will also take into consideration scores set at 12 dozen rounds (of the appropriate distance) the previous season.
